    Question

The sum of five numbers is 655. The average of the first two numbers is 78 and the third number is 119. Find the average of the remaining two numbers?

    A.

    197

    B.

    198

    C.

    191

    D.

    190

    Correct option is D

    Given:
The sum of five numbers is 655.
The average of the first two numbers is 78.
    The third number is 119.
    Formula Used:
Sum of two numbers = Average × Number of terms
Average of remaining two numbers = (Total sum - Sum of first two numbers - Third number) / Number of terms
    Solution:
    Sum of first two numbers = 78 × 2 = 156
    Sum of remaining two numbers = 655 - 156 - 119
=> Sum of remaining two numbers = 380
    => Average of remaining two numbers = 3802\frac{380} 2 = 190
