Question

The sum of five numbers is 655. The average of the first two numbers is 75 and the third number is 108. Find the average of the remaining two numbers?

A.

184

B.

199.5

C.

198.5

D.

183

Correct option is C

Given:

Sum of 5 numbers = 655

Average of first two numbers = 75

Third number = 108

Find: Average of the remaining two numbers

Formula Used:

Average = (Sum of values) ÷ (Number of values)

Solution:

Sum of first two numbers = 75 × 2 = 150

Sum of first three numbers = 150 + 108 = 258

Sum of last two numbers = 655 - 258 = 397

Average of last two numbers = 3972\frac{397}{2} = 198.5
