Question

The following graph represents the number of days taken by five boys individually to complete a piece of work. If Saurabh and Kirpal work together, find the number of days taken by them to complete the work.

A.

12 days

B.

6 days

C.

20 days

D.

18 days

Correct option is A

Given:

No of days taken by Saurabh = 30

No of days taken by Kirpal = 20

Formula used:

No of days taken = Total work/One-day efficiency

Solution:

Let the total work be = 1 unit

Work done by Saurabh in one day = 1/30

Work done by Kirpal in one day = 1/20

Combined work done by Saurabh and Kirpal in one day = 1/30 + 1/20 = 5/60

∴ No of days taken by both of them working together = 1÷ 5/60 = 60/5

=> 12 days
