Question

The average pocket money of three children X, Y and Z of a family is Rs. 2,500 in a particular month. Y spends double and Z spends triple of what X spends during that month. If the average of their unspent money is Rs. 2,100, then X spends (in Rs. ):

A.

400

B.

600

C.

200

D.

300

Correct option is C

Given:
Average pocket money of X, Y, Z = Rs. 2,500
Solution:
Total pocket money = 2500 × 3 = 7500
Total unspent = 2100 × 3 = 6300
Total spent = 7500 − 6300 = 1200
Let X spend = x
=> Total spent = 6x
So, 6x = 1200
=> x = 200
