Question

The average of 6 numbers is 28. The average of first two numbers is 26 and the last two is 32. Find the average of the remaining two numbers

A.

26

B.

27

C.

28

D.

30

Correct option is A

Given:

The average of 6 numbers = 28

The average of the first two numbers = 26

The average of the last two numbers = 32

Formula Used:

Sum of numbers = Average × Total number of terms

Solution:

Sum of 6 numbers = 28 × 6 = 168

Sum of first two numbers = 26 × 2 = 52

Sum of last two numbers = 32 × 2 = 64

Sum of remaining two numbers = 168 − (52 + 64) = 168 − 116 = 52

Average of remaining two numbers = 522\frac{52}{2} = 26
