Question

In a parallelogram, the altitude is twice the corresponding base, and the area of the parallelogram is 288 m². The altitude of the parallelogram is:

A.

12 m

B.

18 m

C.

24 m

D.

36 m

Correct option is C

Given:

Area of parallelogram = 288m2m^2

Altitude is twice the base

Formula Used:

Area of parallelogram = b×hb \times h

Where b is base and h is height of parallelogram

Solution:

Let the base of parallelogram be x

Then height of parallelogram wil be 2x

Area of parallelogram = x ×\times (2x) = 288

2x2=2882x^2 = 288

x2=144x^2 = 144

x=144=12mx= \sqrt{144} = 12m

Altitude of parallelogram = 2x = 24m
