Find the area of a parallelogram, whose base is (3x − 5y + 4) m and height is (x − 5y) m.
Question

Find the area of a parallelogram, whose base is (3x − 5y + 4) m and height is (x − 5y) m.

A.

(3x² + 25y² − 20xy + 4x − 20y) m²

B.

(3x² − 25y² − 20xy − 4x − 20y) m²

C.

(3x² + 25y² + 20xy + 4x − 20y) m²

D.

(3x² − 25y² + 20xy + 4x − 20y) m²

Correct option is A

Given:

Base of the parallelogram = 3x - 5y + 4 meters

Height of the parallelogram = x - 5y meters

Formula Used:

Area of a parallelogram = Base × Height

Solution:

Area of parallelogram = (3x - 5y + 4)(x - 5y)

= 3x(x - 5y) - 5y(x - 5y) + 4(x - 5y)

= 3x2 - 15xy - 5xy + 25y2 + 4x - 20y

= 3x2 - 20xy + 25y2 + 4x - 20y  m2
