Question

In a class there are 40 students (only boys and girls}. The number of girls is three-sevenths of the number of boys. Find the number of boys in the class

A.

28

B.

12

C.

24

D.

32

Correct option is A

Given:

Total students = 40

Solution:

As given in question,

Let number of boys = x

Number of girls = 3x7\frac{3x}{7}

Total students = x+3x7=10x7x+\frac{3x}{7}=\frac{10x}{7}

According to the question,

Total students are 40, so

=> 10x7\frac{10x}{7} = 40

=> x = 28 students

Thus, the correct answer is option(a).
