If tan α = 1/2, tan β = 1/3, then find α+ β.
Question

If tan α = 1/2, tan β = 1/3, then find α+ β.

A.

B.

45°

C.

90°

D.

135°

Correct option is B

Given:
tan α=1/2, tan β=1/3,
Formula Used:
tan (α+ β)= ( tan α+ tan β)/(1- tan α.tan β)
Solution:
As we know
tan (α+ β)= ( 1/2+ 1/3)/(1- 1/2.1/3)
tan (α+ β)= ( (3+2)/6)/( (6-1)/6)
tan (α+ β)= ( 5/6)/( 5/6)
tan (α+ β)= 1
tan (α+ β)= tan45°
So, α+ β= 45°
