Question

If a person walks at 18 km/hr instead of 12 km/hr, he would have walked 24 km more. What is the actual distance travelled by him?

A.

52 km

B.

60 km

C.

55 km

D.

48 km

Correct option is D

Let the actual distance travelled be d  km.

Let the time taken to travel this distance be t hours.

When walking at 12 km/hr, the distance travelled

12t = d

When walking at 18 km/hr, the distance travelled

18t = d+24

d= 18t -24

Equate both

18t -24 = 12t

6t= 24

t= 4

Distance = 12t = 12×4 = 48km
