Question

If a 1352 m long train crosses a pole in 169 seconds, then find the time (in seconds) taken by the train to cross a 256 m long platform.

A.

205

B.

193

C.

201

D.

195

Correct option is C

Given:

Length of Train = 1352 m

The train to cross a 256 m long platform.

Formula used:

Speed=DistanceTimeSpeed = \frac{Distance}{Time}

Solution:

When train crosses the pole

Speed of train = 1352169=8m/sec\frac{1352}{169} =8 m/sec

Time take to cross the platform;

Total Distance  = 1352+256=1608 meters1352 + 256 = 1608 \ meters

Time = 16088\frac{1608 }{8 }

=201seconds= 201 seconds

The time taken by the train to cross the 256-meter-long platform is 201 seconds.
