If 45+(−310)=x+112, then what will be the value of x?\text{If } \frac{4}{5} + \left(-\frac{3}{10}\right)
Question

If 45+(310)=x+112, then what will be the value of x?\text{If } \frac{4}{5} + \left(-\frac{3}{10}\right) = x + 1\frac{1}{2}, \text{ then what will be the value of } x?

A.

-2

B.

-1

C.

2

D.

1

Correct option is B

Given:

45+(310)=x+112 \frac{4}{5} + \left(-\frac{3}{10}\right) = x + 1\frac{1}{2}

Solution:

The  equation  is 45+(310)=x+112 \frac{4}{5} + \left(-\frac{3}{10}\right) = x + 1\frac{1}{2}

Simplify the left-hand side of the equation:

45+(310) \frac{4}{5} + \left(-\frac{3}{10}\right)

The least common denominator (LCD) of 5 and 10 is 10.

45+(310) \frac{4}{5} + \left(-\frac{3}{10}\right) = 8310\frac{8-3}{10} = 510\frac{5}{10} = 12\frac{1}{2}

So, the left-hand side becomes: 12\frac{1}{2}

Simplify the right-hand side of the equation:

x+112 x + 1\frac{1}{2}  = x+32x + \frac{3}{2}

So, the equation becomes:

12=x+32\frac{1}{2} = x + \frac{3}{2}

1232=x\frac{1}{2}- \frac{3}{2} = x

x = 132\frac{1-3}{2} = 22\frac{-2}{2} = -1

The value of x is −1

Thus, correct answer is (b ) -1
