Question

There are two numbers such that the big number is obtained by adding 5 to the other. If the total of the two numbers is 19, find the product of those numbers.

A.

84

B.

24

C.

65

D.

95

Correct option is A

Given:

Bigger number = Smaller number +5

Sum of the two numbers = 19

Solution:

From the condition;

x + (x + 5) = 19

x + x + 5 = 19

2x + 5 = 19

2x = 14

x = 7

Bigger number = x + 5 = 12
Product = 7 × 12 = 84
