A train is travelling at the rate of 45 km/h. How many seconds it will take to cover a distance of 45\tfrac{4}{5}54 km.
Question

A train is travelling at the rate of 45 km/h. How many seconds it will take to cover a distance of 45\tfrac{4}{5} km.

A.

64 seconds

B.

36 seconds

C.

9 seconds

D.

124 seconds

Correct option is A

Given:

Speed of the train = 45 km/h

Distance to be covered = 45\frac{4}{5}  km

Formula Used:

Time=DistanceSpeed\text{Time} = \frac{\text{Distance}}{\text{Speed}}

Solution:

Time=4545 hours\text{Time} = \frac{\frac{4}{5}}{45} \text{ hours}

=45×145 \frac{4}{5} \times \frac{1}{45}

= 4225 hours\frac{4}{225} \text{ hours}

Convert to seconds:

=4225×3600\frac{4}{225} \times 3600

=14400225\frac{14400}{225}

=64 seconds

Option (A) is right.
