Question

A person travels from one place to another at 60 km/hr and returns at 75 km/hr. If the total time taken is 6 hours, then find the total distance travelled.

A.

400 km

B.

250 km

C.

240km

D.

300km

Correct option is A

Given:
Total time taken by a person to travel = 6hrs
Speed while going from A to B = 60km/ hr
Speed while going from B to A = 75km/ hr
Formula Used:
Time = DistanceSpeed\frac{Distance}{Speed}
Total time taken = Time taken to reach destination + time taken to return
Solution:
Let the distance be x
x60+x75=6 9x300=6 9x=1800\frac{x}{60} + \frac{x}{75}= 6 \\\ \\\frac{9x}{300} = 6 \\\ \\9x= 1800
x= 200km
Total distance travelled = 2 x 200 = 400km
