    Question

    A person can complete a journey in 6 hours. He covers the first one-third part of thejourney at the rate of 23 km/h and the remaining distance at the rate of 46 km/h. What isthe total distance (in km) of his journey?

    A.

    216

    B.

    209

    C.

    201

    D.

    207

    Correct option is D

    Given:

    Total time = 6 hours

    First 13 \frac{1}{3} distance at 23 km/h

    Remaining 23\frac{2}{3} distance at 46 km/h

    Formula Used:

    Time = DistanceSpeed \frac{\text{Distance}}{\text{Speed}}

    Solution:

    Let total distance = x km

    Then,

    x323+2x346=6\frac{\frac{x}{3}}{23} + \frac{\frac{2x}{3}}{46} = 6

    x69+2x138=6\frac{x}{69} + \frac{2x}{138} = 6

    2x+2x138=6\frac{2x + 2x}{138} = 6

    4x138=6\frac{4x}{138} = 6

    2x69=6\frac{2x}{69} = 6

    2x = 414

    x = 207

    Thus, Total distance = 207 km
