A bus travelling at 86 km/hr completes a journey in 7 hours. What should be its speed to cover the same distance in 14 hours?
Question

A bus travelling at 86 km/hr completes a journey in 7 hours. What should be its speed to cover the same distance in 14 hours?

A.

43 km/hr

B.

53 km/hr

C.

35 km/hr

D.

42 km/hr

Correct option is A

Given:

Speed of the bus = 86 km/hr

Time taken = 7 hours

Same distance to be covered in = 14 hours

Find the required speed.

Formula Used:

Distance = Speed × Time

For the same distance, speed is inversely proportional to time.

Solution:

Distance covered = 86 × 7 = 602 km

Required speed = 60214\frac{602}{14} = 43 km/hr

Required speed = 43 km/hr

Alternate Solution:

Time is doubled (7 → 14 hours), so speed becomes half:

86 ÷ 2 = 43 km/hr
