Question

A 3-digit number is such that the unit digit, tens digit and hundreds digit are in the ratio 1 : 2 : 3. The sum of this number and its reversed number is 1332. Find the number

A.

414

B.

369

C.

123

D.

246

Correct option is B

Given:

The digits of the number are in the ratio 1:2:3.

The sum of the number and its reversed number is 1332.

Solution:

Let the digits be:

Units digit = x

Tens digit = 2x

Hundreds digit = 3x

Form the number-

Number = 100×3x + 10×2x +x

300x + 20x + x

Number = 321x

Reverse the digits-

Reversed number = 100×x+10×2x+3x

100x+20x+3x

Reversed number = 123x

Sum of the number and its reversed number:

321x + 123x = 1332

444x = 1332

x = 1332444\frac{1332}{444}

x = 3

The number is 321x = 321 × 3 = 963

the reversed number will be 369.
