West Bengal BJP Govt Announced 1 Lakh Govt Jobs Plan in Various Sectors, 33% Reserved for Women

The West Bengal government has announced a major recruitment drive to fill 1 lakh (100,000) vacant government posts. This is one of the biggest government job announcements in the state in recent years. The recruitment aims to create employment opportunities for job seekers and improve services in different government departments.

One of the key highlights of this recruitment drive is the reservation for women candidates. The government has decided that 33% of the total vacancies will be reserved for women, giving them greater opportunities to secure government jobs.

West Bengal Recruitment 2026

The government plans to fill a total of 1 lakh vacant posts through this recruitment campaign. The vacancies will be distributed among various departments to improve public services and create employment opportunities for eligible candidates. The recruitment drive will cover sectors such as education, police, and other government departments. It is expected to create large-scale employment opportunities while helping departments fill long-pending vacancies.

Sector-Wise Breakdown of the 1 Lakh Vacancies

The recruitment drive has been planned to fill vacancies in key government departments. The highest number of posts has been allocated to the Education and Police Departments.

Education Sector (50,000 Posts): Out of the total 1 lakh vacancies, 50,000 posts have been allocated to the Education Department. These vacancies will be filled for teachers and non-teaching staff to strengthen the state’s education system.
Police Department (20,000 Posts): A total of 20,000 vacancies have been reserved for the Police Department. These posts will help improve law enforcement services and enhance public safety across the state.
Other Government Departments (30,000 Posts): The remaining 30,000 vacancies will be filled across different government departments and public service sectors to improve administration and service delivery.

Reservation and Age Relaxation Benefits

To provide better opportunities to different groups of candidates, the government has announced special reservations and age relaxation benefits under this recruitment drive.

10% Quota for Agniveers: The government has reserved 10% of the vacancies for Agniveers wherever applicable. This step aims to provide employment opportunities to Agniveers after completing their service.
5-Year Upper Age Limit Relaxation: The existing 5-year relaxation in the upper age limit for government job recruitment has been extended. This benefit will remain valid for the next 2 years, allowing more candidates to apply for government jobs and compete for these vacancies.
