The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has released the notification for the Bihar School Librarian Eligibility Test (SLET) 2026. The online application process for eligible candidates will be conducted from 1 October 2026 to 21 October 2026. Candidates can apply online through the official Bihar SLET application portal at sletregistration.cbrt.co.in. The examination is proposed to be conducted through Computer Based Test (CBT) between 19 November and 10 December 2026.

Bihar SLET Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates must fulfil the educational, domicile and age-related conditions prescribed in the notification before applying for the Bihar SLET 2026 examination.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must be Indian citizens and residents of Bihar. They must fulfil the eligibility prescribed under the Bihar School Librarian Rules, 2025. Candidates must have:

• A graduation degree from a recognised university with at least 45% marks.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Library Science from a recognised university.
• A 5% relaxation in the minimum prescribed marks is available for SC, ST, EBC, BC, PwD, women and EWS candidates, subject to the notification’s Bihar-residency condition.
• The notification also provides equivalence for certain degrees, including the Alim degree awarded by Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University, Patna/Bihar State Madrasa Education Board and the Shastri degree awarded by Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University, subject to the stated provisions.

Age Limit

The minimum age of candidates for Bihar SLET 2026 is 21 years as on 1 August 2026. The maximum age limit is category-wise as prescribed by the Bihar Government.

PwD candidates are eligible for an additional 10 years of relaxation in the maximum age limit. Ex-servicemen are eligible for the prescribed relaxation of three years plus the period of military service, subject to the maximum age condition specified in the notification.

The examination fee can be paid through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking or UPI. No other payment method will be accepted.

The Bihar SLET 2026 application form will be available online from 1 October 2026. Eligible candidates should complete registration, enter their personal and educational details, upload the required documents and submit the application within the prescribed deadline. How to Apply for Bihar SLET 2026

Candidates can follow these steps to submit their application form:

1. Visit the official BSEB website or the Bihar SLET application portal.
2. Open the link for School Librarian Eligibility Test 2026.
3. Complete the registration using the required details.
4. Log in using the registration credentials.
5. Fill in the personal and educational information in the application form.

Bihar SLET Exam Pattern 2026

The Bihar School Librarian Eligibility Test will be conducted through CBT mode. All questions will be multiple-choice questions and each question will carry one mark. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.

The total duration of the Bihar SLET 2026 CBT examination will be 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes).

Bihar SLET Normalization 2026

The notification states that normalization will be applied because the CBT examination may be conducted in multiple sittings or on different dates. Differences in the difficulty level of question papers across shifts will be taken into account through the normalization process.
The candidate’s Normalized Score will be treated as the marks obtained for determining whether the candidate has qualified. The qualifying percentage will not be calculated using the raw score.
