Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has released the IOB Security Guard Recruitment 2026 notification for 25 Security Guard posts. The recruitment is exclusively for eligible Ex-Servicemen and Ex-Agniveers. The online application process started on 25 August 2026, and eligible candidates can apply online till 14 September 2026.

Interested and eligible candidates can register on the official IOB website from 25 August 2026 to 14 September 2026. There is no application fee for this recruitment. Candidates selected through the recruitment process will be appointed in the Subordinate Staff Cadre and will receive a pay scale ranging from Rs. 19,500 to Rs. 37,815, along with applicable benefits and emoluments. The selection process includes an Online Objective Test, Tamil Language Test, and Physical Fitness Test.

IOB Security Guard Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates should carefully check the eligibility criteria before applying for IOB Security Guard Recruitment 2026. The major requirements are related to defence service, educational qualification, age, language proficiency and medical fitness.

Nationality

A candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who settled in India before 1 January 1962, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Educational Qualification

• Candidates must have passed Class 10th (Matriculation) or an equivalent examination.
• Candidates who have passed a Graduation examination or its equivalent are not eligible.
• Candidates must be able to speak, read, and write Tamil.
• Ex-Servicemen who do not hold the above civil qualification but have completed 15 years of service and hold an Army Special Certificate of Education (or equivalent from the Navy/Air Force) may also be considered.

Category Eligibility

Only Ex-Servicemen/Ex-Agniveers of the Army, Navy, or Air Force can apply. Personnel currently serving whose specific period of engagement is due to end on or before 30 September 2026 are also eligible to apply. Character must be rated “Exemplary” at the time of discharge, and candidates must hold a minimum medical category of SHAPE-1 or AYE at discharge.

IOB Security Guard Selection Process 2026

Selection to the post of Security Guard will be made through a three-stage process:

1. Online Objective Type Test
2. Local Language Test (Tamil)
3. Physical Fitness Test

IOB Security Guard Exam Pattern 2026

The Online Objective Test will carry 80 marks.

Local Language Test

A separate Tamil Language Test carrying 20 marks will be conducted. Qualifying cut-offs for the objective test and language test will be decided by the Bank based on candidates’ performance.

Physical Fitness Test

Only candidates who clear the objective test and language test above the cut-off will be called for the Physical Fitness Test, carrying a total of 100 marks.

Scoring pattern:

• Push-Ups/Sit-Ups: 30+ reps = 30 marks; 21–29 reps = 25 marks; 15–20 reps = 20 marks; below 15 reps = Fail
• 1 KM Run: Under 4 minutes = 30 marks; 4–5 minutes = 20 marks; 5–6 minutes = 10 marks; above 6 minutes = Fail
• Drill Test: Saavdhan/Vishram, Dahine Mur/Baen Mur, and Saluting are each scored out of 2.5 marks

IOB Security Guard Pre-Examination Training

The Bank will arrange free Pre-Examination Training at Chennai for eligible SC/ST, Minority Community, and Ex-Servicemen candidates who opt for it in the online application. While the training itself is free, candidates must bear their own travel, boarding, and lodging expenses.

IOB Security Guard Salary 2026

Selected candidates will be placed in the Subordinate Staff cadre under the 12th Bipartite Settlement, with the following pay scale:

₹19,500 – 665/4 – 22,160 – 830/5 – 26,310 – 990/4 – 30,270 – 1,170/3 – 33,780 – 1,345/3 – 37,815

Basic pay is fixed on the basis of the candidate’s last drawn defence-service salary, and other allowances will be governed by the Bank’s Bipartite Settlement and internal policies. The selected candidate will be on probation for six months from the date of joining.

IOB Security Guard Job Profile

A Security Guard at IOB will be responsible for:

• Guarding Bank premises against theft, attack, assault, or infiltration
• Escorting the movement of Bank property from one location to another
• Operating security equipment such as CCTV, electronic alarms, access control systems, X-ray machines, DFMD, and HHMD
• Maintaining and operating fire alarm and fire-fighting systems
• Working in rotational shifts, including night shifts
• Performing other subordinate-cadre duties as assigned by the management
