APPSC Age Relaxation Demand, Proposal to Increase Upper Age Limit from 42 to 44 Years

A demand proposal has been submitted to the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) requesting further relaxation in the upper age limit for upcoming recruitments. The demand comes in light of prolonged gaps in recruitment cycles and recent job calendar announcements.

APPSC Age Relaxation Demand

Aspirants have requested an extension of the existing age relaxation by an additional two years and an increase in the upper age limit from 42 to 44 years. The proposition applies to non-uniform service posts under APPSC and aims to provide relief to those aspirants who have lost age-based eligibility due to delays in recruitment.

Key issues highlighted in the Age Relaxation Demand

The proposal points out that recruitment notifications for most posts have been irregular over recent years, leading to an imbalanced exam cycle. Many candidates have reportedly lost several years preparing for exams without adequate opportunities. This gap in the exam cycle pushes them closer to or beyond the current age limit.
Some of the major concerns raised include:

  • Prolonged gaps between recruitment notifications
  • Delays in selection process
  • Loss of years in preparation but no exam opportunities
  • Candidates cross the age limit due to these systematic delays

Demand for Age Relaxation

Aspirants have formally submitted a representation addressing the Hon’ble Chairman, Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) through APPSC Members (on behalf of the aspirants) requesting prolongation of the existing age relaxation period by two years and an increase in the upper age boundary by two years. The demand, made in the light of irregular recruitment cycles, is specific to non-uniform service posts.
The key demands are:

  • Extension of age relaxation beyond 30 September 2026
  • Increase in upper age limit from 42 years to 44 years

Current Age Limit Norms under APPSC

The Andhra Pradesh Government has increased the upper age limit for direct recruitment to non-uniform services through APPSC from 34 years to 42 years and this relaxation is valid till 30 September 2026. The minimum age limit for same is 18 years. Additional age concessions are provided to reserved categories as per the Andhra Pradesh State and Subordinate Service Rules, 1996.
The relaxation does not apply to uniformed services like police, fire, and forest departments. The current eligibility is based on the existing norms, and no further changes beyond this limit have been notified yet.

What candidates should know

No official decision has been announced regarding the proposed changes, as of now. The existing rules and criteria remain in force, and candidates are advised to plan accordingly. C
Candidates can regularly check the official website or this page for updates, as any announcement regarding a change in age relaxation will be made available there.
