Ratio and Proportion in Bengali: আমরা সবসময় আমাদের দৈনন্দিন জীবনে প্রয়োজন অনুসারে দুটি বা ততোধিক জিনিস তুলনা করি। বিভাজনের পদ্ধতি ব্যবহার করে দুই বা ততোধিক পরিমাণের মধ্যে এই তুলনা অত্যন্ত দক্ষ। তাই, অনুপাত বললে ভুল হবে না, আসলে একই ধরনের দুটি রাশির তুলনা বা সরলীকরণ। এই সম্পর্কটি আমাদের ব্যাখ্যা করে যে একটি রাশি অন্য রাশির সমান কতটা। এক কথায় বলা যেতে পারে যে অনুপাত হল সেই সংখ্যা যা আমরা একটি পরিমাণকে অন্যটির ভগ্নাংশ হিসাবে প্রকাশ করতে ব্যবহার করি।সমানুপাত হল দুটি অনুপাত একে অপরের সমান কিনা সেটি যাচাই করা। এটি দুটি অনুপাতের সমতা বিচার করে। উদাহরণস্বরূপ, বিবেচনা করা যেতে পারে যে আপনাকে দুটি সেট সংখ্যা দেওয়া হয়েছে যা একই অনুপাতে বাড়ছে বা কমছে। সুতরাং অনুপাতে, আমরা বলব যে অনুপাতগুলি একে অপরের সাথে সরাসরি সমানুপাতিক।

Ratio and Proportion Definition:আমরা সবসময় আমাদের দৈনন্দিন জীবনে প্রয়োজন অনুসারে দুটি বা ততোধিক জিনিস তুলনা করি। বিভাজনের পদ্ধতি ব্যবহার করে দুই বা ততোধিক পরিমাণের মধ্যে এই তুলনা অত্যন্ত দক্ষ। তাই, অনুপাত বললে ভুল হবে না, আসলে একই ধরনের দুটি রাশির তুলনা বা সরলীকরণ। এই সম্পর্কটি আমাদের ব্যাখ্যা করে যে একটি রাশি অন্য রাশির সমান কতটা। এক কথায় বলা যেতে পারে যে অনুপাত হল সেই সংখ্যা যা আমরা একটি পরিমাণকে অন্যটির ভগ্নাংশ হিসাবে প্রকাশ করতে ব্যবহার করি।

সমানুপাত হল দুটি অনুপাত একে অপরের সমান কিনা সেটি যাচাই করা। এটি দুটি অনুপাতের সমতা বিচার করে। উদাহরণস্বরূপ, বিবেচনা করা যেতে পারে যে আপনাকে দুটি সেট সংখ্যা দেওয়া হয়েছে যা একই অনুপাতে বাড়ছে বা কমছে। সুতরাং অনুপাতে, আমরা বলব যে অনুপাতগুলি একে অপরের সাথে সরাসরি সমানুপাতিক। আরেকটি উদাহরণ দেওয়া যাক, একটি ট্রেন যেটি প্রতি ঘন্টায় 50কিমি পথ অতিক্রম করে তা আসলে 5 ঘন্টার জন্য 100কিমি দূরত্ব অতিক্রম করে এমন একটি ট্রেনের সমতুল্য কারণ 50কিমি/ঘন্টা = 100কিমি/5ঘন্টা = 100কিমি/ঘন্টা।

RATIO: The ratio of two quantities a and b in the same units,  is the fraction a/b and we write it as a:b.

In the ratio a:b, we call an as the first term or antecedent and b, the second term or consequent.

Example: The ratio 5:9 represent 5/9 with antecedent = 5, consequent = 9.

Rule: The multiplication or division of each term of a ratio by the same non-zero number does not affect the ratio.

Example: 4:5 = 8:10 = 12:15 etc.

Also, 4:6 = 2:3.

PROPORTION: The quality of two ratios is called proportion.

If a:b = c:d, we write, a:b::c:d and we say that a, b, c ,d are in proportion.

Here a and d are called extremes, while b and c are called mean terms.

Product of means = Product of extremes.

Thus, a:b::c:d

(b x c) = (a x d).

1. Forth Proportional: If a:b = c:d, then d is called the fourth proportional to a, b, c.
2. Third Proportional: If a:b = b:c, then c is called the third proportional to a and b.
3. Mean Proportional: Mean proportional between a and b is √ ab.

Comparison of Ratios:

We say that(a : b) > (c : d)

a/b > c/d

Compounded Ratio: The compounded ratio of the ratios (a : b), (c : d), (e : f) if (ace : bdf).

Duplicate ratio of ( a : b) is (a2 :b2)

Sub – the duplicate ratio of (a: b) is (√ a: √ b)

Q. If a : b = 5 : 9 and b : c = 4 : 7, find a : b : c.

Solution: a : b = 5 : 9 and b : c = 4 : 7 = ( 4 x 9/4) : ( 7 x 9/4)

= 9: 63/4

a : b : c = 5 : 9 : 63/4 = 20 : 36 : 63

Example 2

Q. Divide Rs. 672 in the ratio of 5 : 3

Solution: 

Sum of Ratio terms = ( 5 + 3 ) = 8

First part = Rs. (672 x 5/8)

= Rs. 420;

Second part = Rs. (672 x 3/8)

=Rs. 252.
