Question

X has planned his expenditure as follows: 30% of salary for house rent; 25% for food;
15% for medical expenditure and 16% for others. If he can save ₹42,000 every month, then his monthly salary (in ₹) is:

A.

3,30,000

B.

3,00,000

C.

3,50,000

D.

4,20,000

Correct option is B

Given:

Expenditure plan: House rent = 30%, Food = 25%, Medical = 15%, Others = 16%

Savings = ₹42,000 per month

Solution:

Total expenditure % = 30% + 25% + 15% + 16% = 86%

Savings % = 100% − 86% = 14%

If Savings = 14% of Salary,

then Salary = 420000.14\dfrac{42000}{0.14}

=42000×10014=300,000 = 42000 \times \frac{100}{14} = 300{,}000
