Question

The income of Avin is 54,000 which is 20% less than that of Bharat. The expenditure of Bharat is 12% more than the income of Avin and the expenditure of Avin is 25% less than the expenditure of Bharat. The difference between the savings of Avin and Bharat is:

A.

Rs. 1680

B.

Rs. 1720

C.

Rs. 1620

D.

Rs. 1560

Correct option is C

Given :

Income of Avin = ₹54,000
Avin’s income is 20% less than Bharat’s income.

Formula Used :

Expenditure = Income − Savings

Solution :

Bharat’s income

54,000 = 80% of Bharat’s income

Bharat’s income=54,000×10080=67,5\text{Bharat’s income} = \frac{54,000 \times 100}{80} = 67,500
Bharat’s expenditure

Bharat’s expenditure is 12% more than Avin’s income.
= 112% of 54,000
= 1.12 ×54,\times 54,000 = 60,480
Avin’s expenditure

Avin’s expenditure is 25% less than Bharat’s expenditure.
= 75% of 60,480
= 0.75×60,5 \times 60,480 = 45,360

Avin’s savings
= 54,000 - 45,360 = 8,640

Bharat’s savings
= 67,500 - 60,480 = 7,020
Difference between savings

= 8,640 - 7,020 = 1,620
