Article 371F of the Constitution of India deals with special provisions with respect to the State of Sikkim.
It was added to the Constitution by the 36th Amendment Act, 1975, which brought Sikkim into the Indian Union. The article provides for a number of special provisions for Sikkim, including:
The Legislative Assembly of Sikkim shall consist of not less than 30 members.
The President may, by order, extend to Sikkim any law in force in any other State of India.
For the purpose of protecting the rights and interests of the different sections of the Sikkim populations, the Parliament is empowered to provide for the number of seats in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly which may be filled by cadres belonging to such sections and delimitation of the assembly constituencies from which candidate belonging to such sections alone.
The Governor shall have special responsibilities for peace and for an equitable arrangement for ensuring the social and economic advancement of the different sections of the Sikkim population.
