Suppose x tricycles and y bicycles need to be manufactured.
As, total 15 tricycles and bicycles need to be manufactured. So,
x + y = 15
x = 15 - y .....(1)
Total number of wheels available is 40. Thus,
3x + 2y = 40
Put the value of x from equation (1) in above equation,
3(15 - y) + 2y = 40
45 - 3y + 2y = 40
- y = 40 - 45
- y = - 5 or y = 5
Put this value of y in equation (1),
x = 15 - 5 = 10
