    Question

    The sum of three consecutive odd numbers is 20 more than the first of these numbers. Find the largest of these numbers.

    A.

    11

    B.

    9

    C.

    7

    D.

    13

    Correct option is A

    Given:
    The sum of three consecutive odd numbers is 20 more than the first of these numbers.
    Solution:
    Let the number be (n -2), n and (n+2)
    According to the question
    (n -2) + n + (n+2) = (n – 2) + 20
    3n = (n – 2) + 20
    2n = 18
    n = 9
    Therefore, the largest number be (n+2) = 9+2 = 11
