    Question

    The present age of a mother and daughter is in the ratio of 8: 3. After 12 years, the ratio of their ages will be 2 : 1. What is the sum of the present age of the mother and the daughter?

    A.

    74 years

    B.

    69 years

    C.

    66 years

    D.

    71 years

    Correct option is C

    Let the present age of mother be 8x and daughter is 3x
    As per the question
    (8x+12)/(3x+12)= 2/1
    8x + 12 = 6x + 24
    2x = 12
    x = 6
    Sum of present age of mother and daughter = 8x+3x = 11x = 11×6=66 year.
