Question

The income of Hari is ₹42,000 per month. He spends 15% on rent, 8% on food, 45% on other things, and saves the remaining amount. What is the amount he saves per month?

A.

₹ 14,400

B.

₹25,440

C.

₹ 28,560

D.

₹ 13,440

Correct option is D

Given:

Monthly income = ₹42,000

Rent expenditure = 15%

Food expenditure = 8%

Other expenditures = 45%

Formula Used:

Savings = Income − (Rent + Food + Other expenditures)

Solution:

Rent expenditure = 15% of ₹42,000 = 15100×42,000\frac{15}{100} \times 42,000 = ₹6,300

Food expenditure = 8% of ₹42,000 = 8100×42,000\frac{8}{100} \times 42,000 = ₹3,360

Other expenditures = 45% of ₹42,000 = 45100×42,000\frac{45}{100} \times 42,000 = ₹18,900

Total expenditure = ₹6,300 + ₹3,360 + ₹18,900 = ₹28,560

Savings = ₹42,000 - ₹28,560 = ₹13,440
