    Question

The greatest number of three digits which is exactly divisible by 3, 4, 5 and 8 is:

    A.

    980

    B.

    120

    C.

    960

    D.

    900

    Correct option is C

    Given:

    Three digit number divisible by 3, 4, 5, 8

    Solution:

the Least Common Multiple (LCM) of 3, 4, 5, and 8 is 120

The greatest three-digit number is 999. To find the largest number that is divisible by 120, we divide 999 by 120 and round down to the nearest whole number:

    999÷120=8.325999÷120=8.325

Rounding down gives 8, so the largest multiple of 120 less than or equal to 999 is:

    120×8=960120×8=960

    Thus, the greatest three-digit number divisible by 3, 4, 5, and 8 is 960.
