Question

The diameter of a wheel is 88 cm. Find the number of revolutions in which it will cover a distance of 8712 m. (Use π=22/7)

A.

3450

B.

3250

C.

3150

D.

3350

Correct option is C

Given:
Diameter of the wheel = 88 cm
Total distance to cover = 8712 m
π = 22/7
Formula Used:
The circumference of a wheel (circle) = π × Diameter
The number of revolutions = Total distance / Circumference
Solution:
Total distance = 8712 m × 100 = 871200 cm
Circumference of the wheel = π × Diameter = (22/7) × 88
Number of revolutions = Total distance / Circumference = 871200 / (22/7) × 88 = 3150
Therefore, the wheel will make approximately 3150 revolutions to cover 8712 meters.
