Question

The capacity of an ice cream cone is 66 cm3. What is the radius( in cm) of its base if its height is 7 cm ( use π=227\pi = \frac{22}{7})

A.

3

B.

7

C.

3.5

D.

6

Correct option is A

Given:

Capacity(volume) of the ice cream cone = 66 cm3

Height, h = 7cm

Formula Used:

Volume of cone = 13×π×r2×h\frac 13 \times \pi\times r^2 \times h

Solution:

Applying the formula:

66=13×π×r2×7 66=13×227×r2×7  r2=66×322 r=3×3=3 cm66 = \frac13 \times \pi \times r^2 \times 7 \\ \ \\ 66 = \frac13 \times \frac{22}{7}\times r^2 \times 7 \\ \ \\ \implies r^2 = \frac{66 \times 3}{22} \\ \ \\ r = \sqrt{3 \times 3} = 3 \ cm
