Question

If the volume of a right circular cone of height 30 cm is 160π cm3 \text{cm}^3, find the diameter of its base.

A.

13 cm

B.

16 cm

C.

8 cm

D.

7 cm

Correct option is C

Given:

Right circular cone with height h = 30 cm and volume V=160π cm3=160\pi\ \text{cm}^3. Find the diameter of the base.

Formula Used:
Volume of a cone: V=13πr2h V=\frac{1}{3}\pi r^{2}h

Solution:
13πr2×30=160π\frac{1}{3}\pi r^{2}\times 30 = 160\pi

10πr2=160π10\pi r^{2}=160\pi
r2=16r^{2}=16

r = 4 cm
Diameter =2r=2×4=82r=2\times 4 = 8 cm
