Question

The average of 5 Consecutive numbers A, B, C, D and E is 12. What is the product of A and D

A.

140

B.

120

C.

110

D.

130

Correct option is D

Given:
Average of five consecutive numbers is 12
Formula Used:
Average = Sum of observations /Number of observations
Solution:

Let the consecutive numbers A,B,C,Dand E be x ,x+1,x+2,x+3,x+4 respectively
Then total sum of numbers = x+x+1+x+2+x+3+x+4= 5x +10
Average of numbers = 12
Total of numbers = 5 ×12 = 60
So,
5x+10 =60
5x=50
x=10
A =x =10
D =x +3 = 13
Product of A and D is 10 × 13 = 130
