    Solution:

    Sum of age of 4 persons = 42 × 4 = 168

    Ratio of age of four persons = 1 : 3 : 4 : 6

    => 1 + 3 + 4 + 6 = 14 unit

    => 14 unit = 168

    => 1 unit = 12

    Difference between youngest and eldest = 6 – 1 = 5

    => 5 unit = 5 × 12 = 60 years
