Given:

The sum of ages of father and son = 80 years

If the age of son is doubled then it exceeds age of father by 10

Solution:

Let the age of son be x

Then age of father will be (80-x)

According to question:

2x - (80-x) = 10

2x - 80 + x = 10

3x = 90

x = 30years

The age of son is 30years
