M and N start a business. M invests ₹46,000 more than N for 3 months and N invests for 4 months. M's share is ₹453 more than that of N, out of a total profit of ₹1,359. Find the capital contributed by M.

Total profit = ₹1,359

M’s share is ₹453 more than N’s share.

Find M’s capital.

Concept Used:

Profit is divided in the ratio of (Capital × Time).

Formula Used:

From profit:

M + N = 1359 ......(1) 

M - N = 453 ..........(2)

Adding both gives;

2M = 1812

M = 906

So, N = 1359 - 906 = 453

Profit ratio:

M : N = 906 : 453 = 2 : 1

Investment–time ratio:

3(x + 46000) = 8x

3x + 138000 = 8x

5x = 138000

x = 27600

M’s capital:
