Question

In what ratio should sugar costing ₹24 per kg be mixed with sugar costing ₹47 per kg so that by selling the mixture at ₹42.9 per kg, there is a profit of 30%?

A.

10 : 13

B.

7 : 15

C.

14 : 9

D.

8 : 15

Correct option is C

Given:

Cost of sugar A = ₹24 per kg

Cost of sugar B = ₹47 per kg

Selling price of the mixture = ₹42.9 per kg

Profit percentage = 30%

Formula Used:

Cost Price of the mixture =Selling Price1+Profit Percentage \frac{\text{Selling Price}}{1 + \text{Profit Percentage}}

Solution:

Selling price of the mixture = ₹42.9 per kg

Profit = 30%, so cost price of the mixture is:

Cm=42.91+0.30=42.91.30=33 per kgC_m = \frac{42.9}{1 + 0.30} = \frac{42.9}{1.30} = 33 \, \text{per kg}

The cost price of sugar A = ₹24

The cost price of sugar B = ₹47

The cost price of the mixture = ₹33
