Question

In what ratio does a grocer mix tea at Rs. 26 per kg and Rs. 32 per kg so that by selling the mixture at Rs. 30 per kg they may gain 10%?

A.

7:26

B.

16:7

C.

26:7

D.

7:16

Correct option is C

Selling price of the mixture = 30 per kg
Profit percent = 10%
Profit percent = [(SP - CP)/ CP]× 100
10 = [(30 - CP)/ CP] × 100
10 CP = 3000 - 100 CP
110 CP = 3000
CP = Rs. 300/11
Let the quantity of the first variety of tea = x
Let the quantity of the second variety of tea = y
According to the question:
26 × x + 32 × y = (x + y) 300/11
(26x + 32y) × 11 = 300x + 300y
52y = 14x
x : y = 26 : 7
