Question

In two alloys, the ratio of Aluminium to Zinc are 5:6 and 3: 5. If 242 kg of the first alloy and 144 kg of the second alloy are mixed, then the ratio of Aluminium and Zinc in the new alloy will be:

A.

76:117

B.

82:111

C.

93:100

D.

68:125

Correct option is B

The quantity of Aluminum in first alloy = 242 × 5/11 = 110
The quantity of Aluminum in second alloy = 144 × 3/8 = 54
Total Aluminum = 110 + 54 = 164
The quantity of Zinc in first alloy = 242 × 6/11 = 132
The quantity of Zinc in second alloy = 144 × 5/8 = 90
Total Zinc = 132 + 90 = 222
Ratio = 164 : 222 = 82 : 111
