Question

In an election between two candidates. the winner received 1854 votes and the loser received 618 votes. What percentage of the total number of votes received by the two candidates went in favour of the winning candidate?

A.

70

B.

60

C.

80

D.

75

Correct option is D

Given:

Winner received votes = 1854

Loser received votes = 618

Formula used:

Percentage =  votes recieved by winner total no of votes×100\frac{\text{votes recieved by winner}}{\text{ total no of votes}} \times 100

Solution:

Total no. of votes = 1854 + 618 = 2472

Winner votes

Percentage= 18542472×100\frac{1854} { 2472} \times 100 = 75

Hence, Winner gets 75% of total votes.
