Question

If the cost of 8 apples and 9 mangoes is same as the cost of 10 apples and 6 mangoes, then what is the ratio of the price of a mango and the price of an apple?

A.

2:3

B.

3:2

C.

1:2

D.

2:5

Correct option is A

Solution:
Let the price of an apple be Rs. x and the price of a mango be Rs. y.
According to the problem,
8x +9y = 10x + 6y
9y - 6y = 10x - 8x
3y = 2x
yx=23\frac{y}{x} = \frac{2}{3}
Thus, the ratio of the price of a mango to the price of an apple is 2 : 3.
