Question

If sin 3 θ = cos (θ – 6°), then θ is:

A.

24°

B.

26°

C.

12°

D.

Correct option is A

Given:

sin3θ=cos(θ6)\sin 3\theta = \cos (\theta - 6^\circ)

Concept Used:

cosx=sin(90x).\cos x = \sin (90^\circ - x).

Solution:

cos(θ6)=sin(90(θ6))=sin(96θ)\cos (\theta - 6^\circ) = \sin \left(90^\circ - (\theta - 6^\circ)\right) = \sin (96^\circ - \theta)

So, sin3θ=sin(96θ)\sin 3\theta = \sin (96^\circ - \theta)

3θ=96θ3\theta = 96^\circ - \theta

3θ+θ=96 4θ=96 θ=243\theta + \theta = 96^\circ \\ \ \\ 4\theta = 96^\circ \\ \ \\\theta = 24^\circ
