If cosec⁡2A = sec⁡(A -15∘ ), then find the measure of A (in degrees).
Question

If cosec⁡2A = sec⁡(A -15 ), then find the measure of A (in degrees).

A.

15

B.

23

C.

35

D.

45

Correct option is C

Given:

Cosec2A= sec (A-1515^∘)

Concept used:

trigonometric identities:

cosecθ\theta = 1sinθ\frac{1}{sin\theta}

secθ = 1cosθ\frac{1}{cos\theta}

Solution:

Cosec2A= sec (A-1515^∘)

Rewrite using trigonometric identities:

sin2A = cos(A- 1515^∘)

Using the co-function identity cos x =  sin(90- x)

cos(A15)=sin(105A)cos⁡(A−15^∘)=sin⁡(105^∘−A)

so,

sin2A=sin(105A)sin⁡2A=sin⁡(105^∘−A)

2=1052=105^∘−

3A = 105105^∘

A = 35

So, the measure of A = 3535^∘

Thus, correct option is (c)
