Question

If A exceeds B by 25% and B is less than C by 30%, then the ratio of A and C is:

A.

7:8

B.

4:5

C.

8:7

D.

3:2

Correct option is A

Given:
A exceeds B by 25%.
B is less than C by 30%.
Formula Used:
Increased Value  = original value×(100±(increased/decreased) %100)\text{original value} \times \left( \frac {100 \pm \text{(increased/decreased) \%}}{100} \right)
Solution:
Let c = 100
Then,
A = 70×125100=175270 \times \frac{125}{100} = \frac{175}{2}
B = 100×70100=70100 \times \frac{70}{100} = 70
Thus,  ratio of A : C =  1752:100=175:200=7:8\frac{175}{2} : 100 = 175 : 200 =\bf 7 : 8
