If a+b=25 and a-b=13, find the value of (a+b)^2.
Question

If a+b=25 and a-b=13, find the value of (a+b)^2.

A.

625

B.

496

C.

525

D.

225

Correct option is A

Given:

a+b=25 and a-b=13

Formula Used:

(a+b)2=a2+b2+2ab(a+b)^2= a^2+b^2+2ab

Solution:

a+b=25a+b=25 (Equation 1)

ab=13a-b=13 (Equation 2)

Adding the equation 1 and 2

a+b+ab=38a+b+a-b=38

a=19a=19

Put in the value of aa in equation 1 the value of b=6b=6

(a+b)2=a2+b2+2ab(a+b)^2= a^2+b^2+2ab = (19)2+(6)2+2×19×6(19)^2+(6)^2+2\times19\times6 = 625

Thus the correct answer is (A)
