Question

If 5 (A's capital) = 15 (B's capital) = 25 (C's capital), then out of a profit of Rs. 8,740, how much amount will be received by C?

A.

Rs. 960

B.

Rs. 1315

C.

Rs. 1140

D.

Rs. 1210

Correct option is C

Given:

5 × A’s capital = 15 × B’s capital = 25 × C’s capital

Solution:
This gives their capitals in proportion:
A : B : C = 15:115:125\frac15 :\frac 1{15} :\frac 1{25}

To avoid fractions, we take the LCM of 5, 15, and 25 → LCM = 75.

So,
A’s share = 755\frac{75}5 = 15

B’s share = 7515\frac{75}{15} = 5

C’s share = 7525\frac{75}{25} = 3

The ratio becomes:
A : B : C = 15 : 5 : 3

Total parts = 15 + 5 + 3 = 23 parts
Total profit = ₹8,740

C’s share =323\frac 3{23}× 8,740
C’s share = ₹1,140
