Question

How many cubes of side 3 cm can be formed by melting a cuboid of length 9 cm, breadth 6 cm and height 6 cm?

A.

13

B.

12

C.

11

D.

14

Correct option is B

Given:

Dimensions of the cuboid: Length = 9 cm, Breadth = 6 cm, Height = 6 cm

Side of each small cube = 3 cm

Formula Used:

Volume of cuboid = l × b × h

Volume of cube = a3

Number of cubes = l×b×ha3\frac{l \times b \times h}{a^3}

Solution:

Volume of cuboid = 9 × 6 × 6 = 324 cm3

Volume of one cube = 33 = 27 cm3

Number of cubes = 32427 \frac{324}{27} = 12
