Question

Two cubes each of volume 125 cm³ are joined end to end. The total surface area of the resulting cuboid is:

A.

160 cm²

B.

80 cm²

C.

125 cm²

D.

250 cm²

Correct option is D

Given:

Two cubes, each of volume 125 cm3,5\text{ cm}^3, are joined face-to-face to form a cuboid.

Formula Used:

Side of cube a=Volume3=\sqrt[3]{\text{Volume}}

Surface area of a cuboid: S = 2(lw + lh + wh).

Solution:
Side of cube a = =1253=5 cm=\sqrt[3]{125}=5\text{ cm}

Here l = a = 5; w = a = 5; h = 2a =10.
S =2(5×5+5×10+5×10)2(5\times5+5\times10+5\times10)
=2(25+50+50)=2×125=250 cm2.2(25+50+50)=2\times125=250\ \text{cm}^2.
